DSC_0005 DSC_0009 DSC_0012 DSC_0016 DSC_0031 DSC_0035One of the best things about managing Wendy Brandes‘s Instagram account–getting to wear & style all of the super cool rings. Jessica (the boy’s sister) was in town, so we toured the city while I ran errands for work. We stopped in and had dumplings for lunch, bought all of the acrylic display pieces we could find, came up with fun crafting ideas, & took photos of how I style the silver NYC Letter rings. There were multiple cappuccinos, leaves falling everywhere, and a determined hunt for the perfect winter hat. After our Sephora visits, red lipstick tutorials (even though I am wearing Revlon’s Just Bitten lip stain here), & nail polish mornings, we settled in for a night of movies.

// little update–stripes & spots.

You guys, NYC has been so rainy. What even is this? Therefore, this week’s outfit post was taken indoors.

DSC_0023 DSC_0027 DSC_0029Outfit details // DV by Dolce Vita Cheetah Print Oxfords (my mom scored this pair for only $20!) // H & M dress // J. Crew mutli-buckle leather belt // Felt hat, thrifted // Smashbox “Infrared” matte red lipstick // Madewell gold bangle // Forever 21 triangle painted earrings //

Things have been busy–I met Isaac this week! It was a brief meeting, but I think the red lipstick helped me to stand out. I didn’t wear this exact outfit, but it was pretty close. The red lips, hat, and shoes stayed the same.

I am focusing my efforts on social media for both Gabriela Moya and Isaac Mizrahi. For GM, I am managing the Pinterest and Facebook (please Like and follow us!) and at IM, I am comparing successful fashion brands and their use of social media. As it turns out, this is pretty extensive. There are even infographics for it. So I’ve been researching and researching and researching. Hope and I are going to begin an intern project at IM next week and we will possibly be styling some upcoming garments/accessories around the city. CROSS YOUR FINGERS. That would be so fun!

Also, how did I forget to mention that I was a featured guest blogger for The Hemborg Wife two weeks ago?? Where has the time gone?? Go read my post (“Accidental First Dates”) and see what Bailie is up to. She took a little trip to Cali and spends most of her days being a lovely wife in Sweden (sounds great, right?!).

// life of an intern.

“We have this really disorganized, messy closet of clothes from previous lines–even some couture pieces. You guys are going to organize it.”

What I heard, “Here is this closet of beautiful couture pieces; it’s kind of a mess. A glorious, inspiring mess. Have fun!”

What I heard, “Would you like to gawk over the beautiful pictures get more familiar with the new line?”

My schedule’s a little tight–M/TH: Isaac Mizrahi & T/W: Gabriela Moya & F: Stacy Lomman (or one of the other two, depending on the week’s workload). But I like to stay  busy, so it’s been great so far! This past weekend, I met up with Hannah and Barbara (who is just visiting) to tour the city. We went to the Brooklyn Flea and explored Williamsburg & Bushwick until we were too dehydrated to continue (photos here). I did pretty well with staying on budget–a $5 hat and a $10 shirt, plus an iced latte from Toby’s Estate.

// a little afternoon walk.

Today, I continued designing the textile for the pajama line we are working with. Did you know that when you make your own print for a fabric and you want it to look like wood grain, and you stare at it for approximately 5 hours, it begins to look a lot like this? Long lines leading to nowhere, attached to blobs that seem to be moving.

The weather today was so beautiful today that I took a walk to see more of my neighborhood. I finished the day with a little picnic and reading. The elevator window looks like it belongs in a submarine. There is a beautiful cemetery close by. I’ve met three people in my building, so far. This part of town has a lot of interesting architecture. So far, everyone is very nice. Even the people who had to walk around my tripod.

Over-exposed florals.

The weather has been lovely. So lovely that I happened to venture out in the middle of the day for photos. Not ideal, but here they are, anyway.

Ninesday.

9. My Avett Brothers obsession hasn’t weakened in the least. I’ve seen them twice this year, but will probably see them a third time, if I can manage.

8. Now, I don’t have nearly enough hair for one of these. But this is cage for your bun. Yes, ladies. There’s an answer to too weak elastics.

7. Another find from Trendland-Ana Rajcevic, Animal: The Other Side of Evolution. “The possibility of re-shaping the human silhouette and exploring new forms leads me towards questioning our ideas about beauty and normality.”

6. Coming out of the swim season, I still have my sights set on a high-waisted bikini. Either that or a cute one-piece like this Zimmerman suit.

5. Some Etsy loving. This skirt would be cute worn casually or dressed up. The store has other cute things–fitted dresses, galaxy glow in the dark tights, and the like.

4. Refinery 29 has a great tutorial for pattern mixing (without looking crazy!).

3. How am I just now finding Osborne & Little wallpaper?! I want to cover everything–sides of dressers, single walls, my refrigerator (too far?), my bathroom walls, my shelves, my drawers…I think you get my drift. First, Clarendon(photos below); second, Accademia; third, Best in Show.

2. Man Make Home is a new blog I’ve stumbled upon. I was hoping to find a bit more information about the title origin, but regardless, they feature some amazing work related to design of all types.

1. Lately, I’ve been thinking about blogging. There’s a huge difference in blogging personally (like a journal, solely for a place to keep things for yourself) and blogging for readers. It is such a difficult balance…on the one hand, it would be a ton of fun to gossip to the few of you who are reading with things about dates gone awry (er, pie incidents), arguments with those close to us, and more embarrassing things (ripped pants, zipper down at a meeting, something in my teeth all day)…but on the other hand, don’t we read blogs to get away a little bit? To focus on positive things and creative ideas? Or that was my beginning, anyway. What does one do now–how do you keep the personal balanced with the consistently distanced? Marvelous Kiddo & My Favorite and My Best have delved into this topic recently. Blogging is a lot of fun. Bottom line, though–a ton of work. I won’t be taking a hiatus or anything. I’m curious about everyone else’s thoughts on this subject, is all.

I found a wall that matched my outfit.

There are so many great things about visiting Nashville. Number one, Allison lives there! Number two, there is good coffee everywhere. Number three, there are walls that match my outfit. You know, just out and about. Allison and I woke up disgustingly early (per usual when I visit) so that we could take some quick snapshots for our respective outfit posts. It’s so much easier when you have someone there with you! You will surely see the difference between her shots of me and the self-timed shoots coming up.

Did you get a chance to check out Allison’s post yet? Her styling is perfect!

Ninesday.

9. I am Oak.

8. 30 day drawing challenge, brought to you by CLTRA CLCTVA. Also from this site, check out Amanda Mijangos. Her watercolors are beautiful.

7. Derek Lam, Derek Lam, Derek Lam. If I say his name three times, will one of these beauties appear at my doorstep? I hope so. The patterns in the 10 Crosby ’13 Resort collection are lovely.

6. I think I might make a mid-year resolution to wear more rings. I blame this obsession on Catbird. Like this one. And this one. Or maybe this one. Would it be weird to get an engagement ring for myself (just to wear, not a marriage proposal to myself)? Probably. You’re right. These are probably more in my price range, anyway.

5. The 2 Bandits. Need I say more? I see a lot more silver & denim in my future.

4. Vasilieva. Because we all love to follow blogs full of beautiful photos and well-styled folk.

3. Remember when I said things about rings, approximately ten minutes ago? Here’s more.

2. Belly smackin’ good. I want this print.

1. Is anyone else as ready for fall as I am? I wasn’t meant for this kind of weather. I mean, really. I freckle and burn. 90+ degrees isn’t my friend.

Tuesday Outfits

My dear of a roomie, Jen (who is way better at this photo-taking biz than I am), let me borrow her tripod. Know what that means? I won’t be sitting in EVERY photo AND I can maybe stop constantly searching for something that happens to be the proper height.

More Lookbookin’- Here Comes the Sun

Unfortunately, I can’t get the HYPE button to show up correctly on my blog, but you can click on the picture to go to my Lookbook profile and HYPE it there!

For this outfit, I completely ignored the fact that it was 90+ degrees outside (not to mention the humidity), and I therefore wore a light scarf and one of my favorite pairs of boots–HUGE mistake. This look can easily be pulled off with shorts and flats or sandals. So play around. I definitely don’t regret the scarf! It is a light lace one that isn’t terribly hot at all. Therefore, next time I try the outfit, I will wear it + shorts + sandals. Perfecto? YES.

xoxo.
